Reed Construction (“Reed”) is pleased to announce that the firm has completed the expansion of Lake Behavioral Hospital in Waukegan, Illinois.
Reed was selected by US HealthVest to complete this project, which included re-purposing an existing, four-story medical office building and constructing a new 60,000 square foot addition. Now spanning 90,000 square feet in total, the hospital includes a new outpatient treatment space, full kitchen, and recreational areas. The building features the latest design methods including high abuse board drywall, anti-ligature fixtures, and implements state-of-the-art security measures. Reed utilized BIM coordination and a LEAN construction approach in order to meet an aggressive 11-month schedule. Lake Behavioral Hospital is now one of the largest freestanding inpatient and outpatient mental health and addiction treatment hospitals in the country.
“We are honored to have been part of the project team. Based on our work at Lake Behavioral Hospital and also considering our past and present relevant project experience, we can proudly say we are at the forefront of this specialty industry as a construction manager and general contractor,” said Joseph Kozlowski, Vice President and Director of Project Management.
Joseph Kozlowski led the project joined by Senior Superintendent Chuck Knapp, Project Manager Austen Stephens and Project Engineer John Kruer. The project was designed by Legat Architects.
