As one of our amazing Project Engineers, Courtney has over eight years of experience, including extensive work in iconic Chicago buildings such as the Board of Trade and Aon Center.
What led you to a career in the construction industry?
Construction is my family’s business back in Detroit. I just wanted to do it somewhere else.
What do you love most about working in the construction industry?
The pride of looking at a building or project and knowing you played a part in building it.
What are the advantages women bring to the jobsite?
We’re a lot more analytical. Women really have to think before they speak up in when its construction related.
How has the industry benefited from women in construction?
It’s become a lot more accepting. It’s still a “man’s world” but the influx of women is changing that.
What is your advice to women interested in a career in construction?
Don’t let anyone make you feel like you know any less than them.
What Reed project are you most proud of and why?
Any job at the Chicago Board of Trade. There’s so much history in that building and I love being a part of reshaping its future.
