Reed Construction encourages Small Business Enterprise (SBE), Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) and Woman-Owned Business Enterprise (WBE) participation on all our projects. Local business involvement is maximized without sacrificing quality, time, or cost. We make this collaborative team effort a success through mentoring relationships, working closely with each owner to establish local inclusion goals within each building program, and nurturing long-lasting partnerships.

DIVERSITY SELECTION PROCESS

Reed Construction regularly meets with members of the construction management team to review the status of our MBE and WBE workforce hiring goals.

Prior to selecting final bidders, Reed Construction qualifies trade partners and vendors for diversity participation. We require all participating entities to furnish official documentation as proof of MBE and WBE certification.

After a contract is awarded, Reed implements an accountability system with subcontractors and vendors. This system includes, but is not limited to certified payrolls, copies of material invoices and canceled checks, if necessary. The construction team will keep a log, updated monthly, to ensure we are meeting and exceeding the project goals.

SUPPORTING DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION — GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY

As a company, philanthropy and corporate social responsibility are cornerstones of our workplace philosophy. All team members are allowed 2 volunteer days to support the charitable organization of their choice. Through our Foundation, we regularly plan company volunteer events, host internal charitable fundraisers, and sponsor charitable events. To date, the Reed Construction Foundation has donated over $1,400,000, volunteered over 1,000 hours, sponsored over 200 charitable events, and donated well over 50,000 books to organizations near and dear to the hearts of our employees, clients, and community. Those organization include The Greater Chicago Food Depository, Project H.O.O.D. and the outreach efforts of Pastor Corey Brooks, My Block My Hood My City, YWCA, Asian Human Services, After School Matters, Family Christian Health Center, United Way Metro of Chicago, Habitat for Humanity, Bernie’s Book Bank and so many more.
