Reed Construction Celebrates 125 Years

Reed Construction is proud to announce that we are celebrating 125 years in the industry. Founded in 1893 by Thomas Reed, the firm initially began as a plastering company during the World Fair and since then has grown to a full-service general contracting firm. Reed is currently led by fifth-generation President and CEO, Bill Birck, who joined the firm in 2000.

“Leading a company successfully through five generations can be a challenge, especially as you navigate through different economic climates,” said Birck, “Being able to celebrate this significant milestone is a direct testament to the hard work and dedication of not only our current generation, but the four generations before us.”

Over the past 125 years, our firm has many notable achievements, most recently the creation of the Reed Charitable Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding the firm’s philanthropic efforts. Since inception, the Reed Charitable Foundation has been proud to support over a hundred different charitable organizations near and dear to the hearts of our employees, clients, and local community.

“We’re proud to be a part of the Chicago real estate and construction industry for the past 125 years,” said Birck, “I’m looking forward to seeing where our future takes us.”
