Project Engineer

Establishes and maintains the organizational system for maintenance of project documentation, including drawings, sketches, RFI’s.  Maintains archival and distribution of project documentation as needed by all members of the project team.

  • Conduct project estimates; perform quantity takeoffs
  • Handle multiple projects simultaneously, all at various stages and locations
  • Evaluate bids and recommend contract awards
  • Solicit vendors for pricing; perform follow-up calls chasing bids
  • Chase and review subcontractor submittals, verifying conformance to contract documents
  • Maintain various information logs (e.g. purchasing, estimating, RFIs, submittals, punchlist)
  • Communicate with fellow project team members to maintain visibility on project accountabilities

Qualifications:

  • Degree in engineering or construction management
  • Exceptional organization skills and attention to detail
  • Keen analytical ability and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communicator – both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work with multiple vendors and subcontractors
  • Takes initiative; goes beyond assigned duties

Assistant Project Manager

Responsible for management and oversight for varied phases of the construction project.  Ensures the contract documents are adhered to, that work is on schedule and within budget, and that the project is brought to satisfactory completion.

  • Assist in leading the project team; take initiative in managing information, establishing expectations and maintaining quality and cost effectiveness in the overall project
  • Ensure that the project is administered at the highest level of compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Solicit vendors for pricing; recommend contract awards
  • Assemble and prepare complete and well thought-out estimates; perform quantity takeoffs and bid evaluations; clarify specific information and assumptions
  • Prepare accurate and concise contracts, subcontracts and purchase orders
  • Maintain various information logs (e.g. purchasing, estimating, RFIs, submittals, punchlist)
  • Chase and review subcontractor submittals, verifying conformance to contract documents
  • Spot business development opportunities; perform follow-up calls chasing bids; help to negotiate and close deals
  • Communicate effectively with fellow project team members to ensure clarity and visibility of accountabilities; run focused and concise meetings; stick to the agenda
  • Accurately forecast and track costs in cost reporting system; instruct and oversee monthly pay application process
  • Maintain and organize job changes all the way through change orders
  • Maintain focus on quality for all projects; promote a strong safety culture on all projects
  • Handle multiple projects simultaneously at various stages and locations, applying a strong knowledge of construction trades
  • Handle pressure and confrontation effectively; remain calm and cool-headed

Qualifications:

  • Degree in engineering or construction management from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in the commercial construction industry; experience in healthcare and critical care facilities preferred
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to foresee and circumvent risk appropriately
  • Ability to collaboratively lead teams; ability to delegate tasks and follow up
  • Excellent analytical ability and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written

Project Manager

Manage projects from start to finish ensuring completion on time and within budget. Keep eyes and ears on every aspect of the project including, scheduling, timelines, costs and client service.

Work closely with the project team including architects, clients, landlords and subcontractors to ensure that work is completed on time, within budget and to the high degree of quality that Reed Construction is known for. He or she will be expected to demonstrate strong organizational, communication and leadership capabilities to successfully perform the required duties and responsibilities which include (but are not limited to):

  • Represent and cultivate Reed’s core values of communication, collaboration and innovation; uphold business ethics and demonstrate professional judgement
  • Manage project life cycle including subcontractor negotiations and buy-out, project scheduling, material procurement, RFI’s, pencil draws, change order management and project close out
  • Display a thorough understanding of project specifications, including site drawings, agenda, on-site procedures and potential code violations to properly bid and manage the project
  • Conduct regular meetings with clients, architects and other key partners to provide project updates; engage in team collaboration and communcation with the Superintendent to proactively resolve any on-site issues keeping the project on track
  • Generate detailed and accurate conceptual budgets from space plans, and/or renderings and/or scope notes
  • Serve as the point of contact for project management staff, subcontractors, building owners and managers, building engineers, architects and more
  • Abide by guidelines in Reed’s safety manual and regularly attend seminars on a variety of safety-related topics
  • Maintain good relations and communication with everyone involved in a project; conduct oneself in a courteous and professional manner at all times

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a construction-related area of study
  • Minimum 2 years of industry experience
  • Commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Punctual and respectful of others’ time
  • Goal-oriented; ability to react quickly to changing circumstances and still achieve desired end results
  • Proactively look for potential job site issues and address any problems promptly and professionally
  • Calm and professional demeanor, even in high-pressure situations

  • Strong understanding of project cost analysis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to produce thorough documentation of each project
  • Experience with project management is a plus (Procore, On-Screen Takeoff, Timberline, Salesforce, Microsoft Project)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook

 

Project Superintendent

Project Superintendents are Reed Construction’s first line of defense on job sites. Responsibilities include oversight of all day-to-day site operations, including scheduling, coordination and delegation of subcontractor work, quality control and ensuring the safety of everyone on a project site.

The ideal candidate will work closely with our project management staff and assigned subcontractors to ensure that work is being completed on time, within budget and to the high degree of quality that Reed Construction is known for. He or she will be expected to demonstrate strong leadership capabilities and do whatever is reasonably necessary to perform the required duties and responsibilities which include (but are not limited to):

  • Provide strong leadership, maintaining effective working relationships with project staff to ensure a positive on-site morale
  • display a thorough understanding of project specifications, including site drawings, addenda, on-site procedures and potential code violations; bring any on-site issues to the attention of the project management staff in a timely manner
  • Act as the primary point of contact for project management staff, subcontractors, building owners and managers, building engineers, architects and more
  • Organize, delegate and oversee all on-site work being done by subcontractors and coordinate all on-site trade work; continuously provide feedback on assigned subcontractors and actively source new outlets for future projects
  • Obtain any necessary permits or licenses, including Certificates of Insurance (COIs), project schedules and up-to-date safety protocol and equipment; ensure prominent posting of weatherproofed, on-site signage outlining all required safety notices
  • Ensure safety and security of each job site. Coordinate and host site walk-throughs, OSHA inspections and more; immediately prompt corrective actions indicated by reports of these agencies
  • Regularly attend seminars on a variety of safety-related topics
  • Attend scheduled meetings with project management staff, clients, architects and other key partners; engage in team collaboration to address any issues and provide comprehensive transparent progress reports
  • Utilize project management software to provide real-time data so that the project management staff can make timely and informed decisions. This includes use of Procore, On-Screen Takeoff, PM Web Solutions and more
  • Maintain good relations and communication with everyone involved in a project, including the general public; conduct oneself in a courteous and professional manner at all times

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a superintendent role preferred
  • Committed to producing high-quality work, striving for a “zero punch list” on every project
  • Ability to effectively lead an on-site project team and work toward multiple deadlines at once
  • Punctual and respectful of others’ time
  • Goal-oriented – ability to react quickly to changing circumstances and still achieve the desired end results
  • Proactively looks for potential job site issues and addresses any problems promptly and professionally
